Lighting Electrician in Ripon
From display cabinet lights in a new kitchen to a chandelier in a Georgian front room, we fit lighting that suits the space.
Good lighting is about where the light lands, not how many fittings there are. Cabinet and shelf lighting for the worktop, downlights placed around the room rather than in a rigid grid, and lamps and pendants that make a room feel warm in the evening.
We fit new kitchen lighting schemes, LED strip in cabinets, shelves and plinths, bathroom-rated downlights, illuminated mirrors, stair and step lights, pendants and chandeliers, along with dimmers and two-way switching.

How you use the room, where you sit and work, and where switches should go.
- Plan positions
Fittings and circuits are agreed before any holes are cut.
- Fit and tidy
Lights are installed, tested and the room is left clean.
Lighting older Ripon homes
High ceilings, cornices and ceiling roses are common in Ripon’s period houses, and they call for lighting that suits them rather than a ceiling full of downlights. Wall lights, picture lights and well-chosen pendants often work better, with cables routed through floor voids above to avoid damaging plaster.
Lighting questions
Can you fit lights without damaging old ceilings?
Usually. Where there’s access from the floor or loft above, cables can be run without cutting into decorative plaster.
Do downlights need to be fire-rated?
Where the ceiling forms a fire barrier, such as below a bedroom or in a flat, yes. We use fire-rated fittings where they’re needed.
Can you add dimmers to LED lights?
Yes, as long as the LEDs are dimmable and the dimmer is compatible. We’ll check both to avoid flicker.
